Title: Birds on the water

I'm not sure if these can be id'd from a couple of blurry photos, but I thought I'd ask in case someone is used to these. They are transitioning in plumage. They were in Lake Ontario near Toronto on May 26. I'm sure they are common birds.

Thanks! I knew they were common but I couldn't remember the name. (I'm saving gulls for when I retire.)
