Title: Is this a Philadelphia Vireo
Post by: winz on May 28, 2016, 03:23:20 PM
Saw this at Colonel Sam Smith Park in Etobicoke today.
If it is a Philadelphia Vireo, it would be a life bird.

Thanks for your help.

looks more like a red-eyed vireo to me..... black stripe thru the eye and darker on head, the red eye doesn't always show up in  young birds

Thanks Dave,
I only got 2 shots off and neither showed the top of the head, so wasn't sure of the darker stripe over the eye.  I just reviewed the markings for Philadelphia Vireo which includes yellow on the breast and throat.  This bird has white on the chest.
Red-eyed Vireo is still a life bird for me  :D
