Title: Long tailed duck. TTP
Post by: birddog2 on July 03, 2016, 04:39:55 PM
I was quite surprised to see a long tailed duck yesterday off Tommy Thompson Park on the lake, east side just before cell 2. I did take some photos on my cell phone but it was too far out for anything decent.

Interesting observation. I checked e-Bird for Long-tailed Duck observations in July (http://ebird.org/ebird/canada/map/lotduc?neg=true&env.minX=151.132294529972&env.minY=-19.370805862440562&env.maxX=72.382294529972&env.maxY=70.93905835664364&zh=true&gp=true&ev=Z&mr=on&bmo=7&emo=7&yr=all&byr=1900&eyr=2016) and a few birds seem to summer in in the Great Lakes area and along the coasts instead of making the journey north.
