Title: Lake Aquitaine - July
Post by: Bird Brain on July 07, 2016, 08:03:19 PM
Hi everyone.  So far this month it's pretty much been "the usual".  Was pleasantly surprised with sighting a female Hairy Woodpecker yesterday morning.  Haven't been seeing any Great Blue Heron since late June.

"The Usual"

Canada Geese
Cardinals
Crows
Goldfinches
Grackles
gulls
House Sparrows
Mallards
Red-winged Blackbirds
Robins

Note:  majority of paved walking trail at West end of the lake is now fenced off due to construction of new Meadowvale Community Centre - hopefully opening in September!  The only public washroom currently open is by the soccer field.

Thanks for the update Jo-Anne.  I have avoided Lake Aquitaine because of the construction.  I have been to Lake Wabukayne a couple times this month and in addition to the "usual", I had Great Blue Heron, Green Heron and Black-crowned Night-Heron.  There were also some Spotted Sandpiper.  Have you been there lately?

Hi winz.  Can't remember the last time I went to Lake Wabukayne, it's definitely been quite awhile!

Other:  this afternoon at NW corner of Lake Aquitaine, one Black Swallowtail butterfly.
