Title: White-winged Scoter, Harlequin at Humber Bay Park
Post by: Lloyd on March 30, 2008, 12:05:38 PM
Despite frigid wind and frozen fingers, I spotted the male Harlequin Duck along with three females in their usual location. Also of note was a pair of Hooded Mergansers, Red-breasted Mergansers and male and female (and possibly an immature) White-winged Scoters. In abundance were Goldeneyes, Buffleheads, Lesser Scaups and Long Tails.

The usual suspects ...

I have yet to get out there and see the Harlequins...  How long will they around?

It was cold indeed at Humber Sunday.. A small bird of prey buzzed thru also , too fast to ID (maybe the merlin who has been hanging around?).
Here is a shot of the Scoter (a first for me), pretty banged up bird the bill was broken on the left side, and there appears to be something strange over the right eye?
