Went there on Sunday, Sept 11. It was very windy - the beaches were devoid of anything interesting, Shorebird wise. At the tip of Owen Point saw a flock of Sanderlings together with a juvenile Red Knot and a Black-bellied Plover. Then crossed over to the Gull Island - the water level this year is below knee height. Saw very much the same thing - a pair of Red Knot, Semil-palmated Sandpiper and Plover, Least Sandpiper, a Northern Harrier, a Cooper's Hawk and a pair of Kestrel. On the way to Gull Island - on the right side of the gravel path leading to the Island I saw a Cormorant sitting in water - thought it was a juvenile. It was alert and turned its neck to follow our movement to the Island. An hour later on the way back I saw it lying dead at the same location. Not sure what the cause was - some mentioned botulism. Felt sad thinking how quickly its life snuffed out. Anyway, here are some pictures of Shorebirds.

2. Sanderling. This one looked very different from the rest in the flock - probably due to remnant of his breeding plumage.
