Title: Raven Downsview
Post by: Napper on October 13, 2016, 06:27:14 PM
I spotted a Raven today around 9:30 am, it was hanging around on top of one of the hangers.

I didn't take long for a Merlin/Kestrel to dive bomb the raven. "It sounded like a Merlin".

Raven took to the air and a minute or so later a large Hawk joined the fray and attacked the Raven. The attacks by the small

falcon and the Hawk went on for 5 minutes or so.

The hawk had interesting underwing markings.

I have really dark perscription sunglasses.

What you saw might be a juvenile Red Tailed Hawk. I saw one going after a Raven on Sept 28 at Downsview Park.

Thanx,  yeah that looks familiar

At one point I thought there were two Raven's  because of the similarity in size.

After a little while, while wearing my "cheap sunglasses"  8)  I noticed the the underwing pattern.

This is why I stated the  "hawk" had interesting  mostly dark underwing.
