Title: Eared Grebe at Colonel Sam Smith Park
Post by: Dinusaur on November 07, 2016, 07:49:36 PM
Earlier in the day Garth Riley reported of an Eared Grebe at CSSP. I dropped by just before noon and found the bird drifted east of Cliff Lumsdon Park (east of Rotary Park). The first one is the Eared grebe, the second one is of a Horned Grebe, at very much the same distance as comparison.

I watched the Eared Grebe for quite a while on Saturday. A short time and distance later, I spotted a Horned Grebe. I created this composite image as a reminder of just how tricky they are to separate at this time of year: (https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/737/32317719946_79cd1db60d_b.jpg)

Much better comparison shot Brian. When I saw them last back in November they were far out in the lake.
