Hi everyone. Christmas Bird Count for Mississauga and Oakville today: Saturday, December 17th.

Thank You So Much to "winz" for joining me this morning and counting at Plowman's Park plus Lake Wabukayne. :D 8)
I also counted at Lake Aquitaine separately. Total #'s for all 3 parks:
Total # of Species: 20
Total # of Birds: 448
Some highlights:
Turkey Vulture - Lake Aquitaine
Red-tailed Hawk - Plowman's Park, sighted 3x flying very low above our heads then the RTH perched at tip of a pine tree.
Hairy Woodpeckers - Lake Wabukayne and Plowman's Park
Species sighted this morning:
Canada Goose
Turkey Vulture
Red-tailed Hawk
Ring-billed Gull
Rock Pigeon
Mourning Dove
Downy Woodpecker
Hairy Woodpecker
Blue Jay
American Crow
Black-capped Chickadee
Red-breasted Nuthatch
White-breasted Nuthatch
American Robin
European Starling
Dark-eyed (Slate-colored) Junco
Northern Cardinal
House Finch
American Goldfinch
House Sparrow

Rob Palin and I spent the full day counting at Riverwood and Erindale, and portion of the Oakville Lakeshore
Highlights included 2 Northern Shoveler, 1 Horned Grebe, 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk, and good numbers of wrens (7 Carolina, 4 Winter)

Four of us in our South Mississauga area including Lakeside Park, Holcim Estate, Sheridan Park and a few others. 37 species highlighted by a Pine Warbler, Long Eared Owl, Killdeer and Great Blue Heron

Rob Palin and I spent the full day counting at Riverwood and Erindale, and portion of the Oakville Lakeshore

Hi Reuven. Riverwood and Erindale are both so beautiful - fantastic for wildlife sightings as well!

Hi Mike. I'm totally thrilled with the e-mail (including photos) from Bruce along with list for South end of Area 5 count area - the group you were in. Looking forward to when he adds in the North end count info./#'s. Hoping to see something rare or unusual over the next 3 days (as part of Count Week).
