Got the chance to visit relatives in Ottawa in Chinese New Year vacation and drove to RF Marguerite-D'Youville, QC to watch this beautiful owl.

Good for you, great looking shots. I have heard reports of some scattered throughout our region, planning on spending some time in Prince Edward County today checking the back roads etc.

Gorgeous set, your new year started with a bang. eBird reported a few from Quebec; however, not too much activity in Ontario yet.

Just a heads up my understanding eBird Ontario is not showing the great gray owl reports online.

I didn't realize that eBird is moderated at the time of submission; however if makes sense in order to protect the bird from harassment I presume that the data is still collected and may be visible on a later date. Otherwise the phrase 'citizen science' won't make much sense.

It's my understanding that eBird does not moderate its submissions unless they are of a rare bird, and thats only for scientific purposes. Those reports can still be seen if you know where to look.
However, anyone who submits to eBird has the option to "Hide" their report, that way it is not being seen by anyone. It could also be they are waiting a week before reporting so that their sightings do not go out on rare bird alerts. Some people even wait a month or more before reporting certain sightings.
Oh, and nice shots wanchan!

Thanks for you guys comments. I still depending on eBird information for birding most of the time. If people starting to 'Hide', it is not good for new birder thought.
