Anyone else participating in the Great Backyard Bird Count this weekend?
I am but the birds aren't! I think they know when the GBBC is and they stay clear of my yard!

Hi Walter. That's crappy and exactly how Day #1 (Friday) went out here!
Day #2 (Saturday) - sighted the following at Lake Aquitaine:
Canada Goose
Rock Pigeon (Feral Pigeon)
Mourning Dove
Blue Jay
American Crow
American Robin
European Starling
Dark-eyed Junco
Northern Cardinal
House Sparrow
Day #3 (Sunday) - Thank You So Much to my friend Bob (rcflier), he joined me on his birthday :!: for counting. We sighted the following at Maplewood Park:
Mourning Dove
Downy Woodpecker
Hairy Woodpecker
American Crow
Black-capped Chickadee
Red-breasted Nuthatch
White-breasted Nuthatch
American Robin
Northern Cardinal
House Finch
House Sparrow
Tomorrow, my focus is on birds of the "metal" kind - plane spotting at YYZ. Will count any feathered birds, have been seeing RTH's this month.

Had a good/standard day today at Riverwood, 18 species total with the continuing Wood Ducks and Fox Sparrow making appearances

Hi Mike. That's great re: 18 species and especially cool seeing Wood Ducks - the males are my favourite!
The Riverwood birdcam was down for quite awhile but is now back up again. Yippee!

Lots of " birdie birdie birdie" (male Cardinals) singing these days

Once the females appear, all hell breaks loose and the males are on a head pecking mission! They also go after dogs, squirrels, etc. No one and nothing is safe! :shock:
