Title: Owls and Hawks
Post by: Dinusaur on February 25, 2017, 11:59:40 AM
1. On the way to Amherst Island near Kingston found this beauty by the side of Highway 4. The owl was busy hunting as it jumped from one branch of a tree to another and eventually went deep inside the forested area. Last time I saw a Great Gray Owl was back in 2014 in Brooklyn, Ontario So, this was a nice surprise.

2. Barred Owl in Whitby. A group of school children and their teachers came by for their nature walk. The owl looked at them with curiosity, didn't fly away. A very cooperative bird indeed.

4. Red-shouldered Hawk. A lifer for me. It was found by Taunton and Country Lane in Whitby.

5. Red-tailed Hawk in Downsview Park. The Canadian flag was flying half mast to honor those killed in a Quebec mosque. That created the backdrop for the hawk as it took off of the light fixture.
