do wood thrushes even come up to the north side of Lake Ontario?
-
Yes, Wood Thrushes do come up into southern Ontario. I've seen them migrating through the Rattray in Mississauga. It's a bit early for them, though, they're more common in May. This year, though, many things have been a bit early.

Wood Thrushes are quite common in many forests...just take a walk in later spring to summer and listen for their call.
