Title: Blue-winged Warbler at Ashbridges
Post by: nkwali on April 27, 2017, 11:32:22 AM
Would love to have someone else see this (and confirm that I've got the ID right) - Ashbridges Bay at the very end of the loop of the path in that group of trees in the grass area right next to the path - seen @ 10:15 am this morning.

I saw it and assumed it was a yellow warbler. Still here

I assume you mean the southwest edge?

i was there 90 min after you. sparse warbler activity. just a yellow warbler (i double checked my pic) in the trees, and, a bit of a surprise, a red bellied woodpecker (male) was hiding in the rocks. same with a thrasher.

nice find.

I tried and failed to find the Blue Wing yesterday between 12:30 and 2.  I did get a Swainson's Thrush (wasn't 100% positive the first pass, but re-found it while leaving and got a very good look).  It was by the Marina fence where someone elsse saw a Wood Thrush.  I also got the Trasher in the rocks, but no Red-Bellied.  Any news or the Blue Wing today?  I'm heading down now.

Rick

Good luck - let us know if you find the Blue-winged. I'll try my luck later in the afternoon.

yeah, it was photo ID'd by Reuven as a hermit thrush (which i still don't 100% see,but i take his word).

the RB Woodpecker was right where the thrasher was. it was oddly on the beach area first. that's where i heard it squawk. it flew north and i lost site of it after it was on a tree for 10 seconds
