Title: Thayer's Gull Now Classified as a Sub-species!
Post by: Walter Fisher on June 30, 2017, 08:48:28 PM
Hi everyone,

I was just reading on OntBirds in a post from Ron Pittaway that the Thayer's Gull is now classified as a sub-species of the Iceland Gull as per the newly updated checklist from the American Ornithological Union.  This move has been debated by the experts for eons and probably comes as no surprise to many of you.  To all those birders who are 'listers' like myself, please remove one 'tick'. :(

Good birding,
Walter  :)

Enjoy the long weekend!!!

Wonderful!
Thanks to the braintrust of the AOU I have  now lost 5 species.
Just once I would like to add a species!

I was happy to add a bird to my lifelist last evening only to find that the number stayed the same. My Thayer's had come off the list.
