This morning my self and 2 other cold birders stood out at the tip
Of Col. Sam Smith park waiting for the Whimbrel flight, at 7:58 it started
with One flock of 5 and then shortly after that a flock of 32 (And one
Cormorant) went by, at this point the wind chill hade worn me out and we
called it a morning happily heeding for hot coffee. :lol: :)
Col Sam Smith Park can be found at the south end of Kipling at
Lakeshore. From the QEW exit off Islington.

Hi Craig. Where is the "bowl" that people refer to at Colonel Sam Smith Park?

Lloyd I just found it for my self too day ( well Carol Honer shoud it too me ) its at the north east end of the park besied the bildings , and ther is lots of parking !!

Spent a cold windy three hours biking/searching at TTP yesterday. I was actually hoping to catch some warbler stragglers but no luck. Did see a solitary great egret and, on the western edge where they've been dumping mud and bricks, almost ran over a pair of least sandpipers. While watching them I was also treated to a hard working flight of whimbrels (35 or so) battling their way up and down the spit for about twenty minutes. At the same spot also saw a pair of ruddy turnstones and a pair of semipalmated plovers, also practically underfoot (wind was so strong they seemed reluctant to take flight). (I was originally planning to post an "RFI" for the whimbrels as this was a first for me.) All in all, worth the near frostbite.
