Title: Monarch Butterflies - Mississauga
Post by: Bird Brain on October 20, 2017, 01:58:34 PM
Hi everyone.  Mid-October and still sighting Monarch butterflies, especially in the Mavis/Rathburn area and various external locations at Square One - eg. Entrance 3, 4 and 7, main Wal Mart parking lot, etc.

Also seeing lots of Ladybugs and Moths lately and 2 HUGE hornet nests!

Yes, I'm seeing lots of Monarchs still on the move, too. But the Lady in  my yard today was an American, not a Painted, which surprised me a bit. I'm glad my late blooming Mums are out early this year as the butterflies are ignoring the last of the coneflowers and tanking up on the Mums instead so they must be getting some nectar from them.

Saw lots of Monarchs migrating this weekend.  Hope they make it.
