Title: American Avocet & Sandhill Cranes
Post by: Dinusaur on October 31, 2017, 07:52:20 PM
On Sunday, Oct 29 I went to Bracebridge Sewage Lagoon with a friend to see my first American Avocet. It was reported on eBird for few days prior to my visit; apparently it was last seen on Oct 30. What a great looking bird. On the way back, stopped by Minesing to see and photograph Sandhill Cranes. There was a few flocks of them scattered in various farm fields far away from the road. Once a few took off and flew overhead when I managed to get a few shots of them.

That Avocet is certainly an exotic looking specimen. Beautifully calming photograph with that
still water and diffuse light. Never seen one before, nor have I ever seen a Sandhill crane.
Great outing.
