Great article and post, it reminded me of a few years back as I was walking out of "Owl Woods" heading backing to my car when I came across this fellow in the image waiting for the late day Short Eared Owl hunt to begin. We weren't disappointed as around 8-12 showed up hunting the nearby fields. My conclusion is the owls still would have shown up regardless if this guy was laying in wait or night. He wasn't actually hidden but I guess we all have a game plan when shooting raptors in the wild  :)
