Title: Northern Shrike?
Post by: Ally on January 08, 2018, 03:41:06 PM
Hi, I went to look for the snowy owl following Dinosaur's lead, and I found it in Downsview Park this morning. I saw another two birds, one of them I think is a mocking bird, and the other went to harrass the snowy, I thought that was the mate of the mocking bird. Then after I went home and checked the photos, I think it might be a Northern Shrike instead. I have never seen a snowy or a shrike before. Two out of three, wonderful birding day for me. Can you please ID them? Thanks

yes, you are correct...first 2 are shrike and 3rd is a mockingbird.  Shrikes are only seen in winter in Toronto area and not that often, good find
