Title: Tufted Duck
Post by: Dinusaur on February 17, 2018, 10:31:05 AM
After several failed attempts I finally managed to see and photograph of this rarity in this part of the world. It was reported in Windermere Basin in Hamilton. After work I arrived there to get a backlit shot of the bird enough to see its distinctive crest. Also shown is a photo comparing against a Greater Scaup.

Nice rarity and find for our parts. I was lucky this summer and got one in Newfoundland during my summer vacation.

I have begun to think that this particular bird has a hate on for me. It never seems to be where I am when I am looking. Try and try again...

Haha Mike, I had the same feeling until I finally managed to see it. I missed it several times in Mississauga, Burlington and eventually got to see to in Hamilton.
