I was talking to someone when this raptor flew overhead. It seemed fairly small, like a Red Tailed Hawk, but I can't find a hawk with colouring like this. Was my sense of size off? Is it a non-mature bald eagle? They are common this winter around Hamilton Harbour. (I was at LaSalle in Burlington.)

Yes, it is a juvenile Bald Eagle. One day (Feb 3) I saw 5 of them out in the Bay by La Salle Park.

Thanks! It was hard to look at because I was trying to be polite to the people I was speaking with, but still turn and fire off a few shots as it was moving swiftly overhead. It was beautiful but all I took it was how dark it was on the underside compared to my usual red tails.
