Title: Black-backed Woodpecker in Algonquin
Post by: Dinusaur on April 11, 2018, 09:13:55 PM
A friend of mine and I went to Algonquin on Sunday, April 8. On our way to Visitor Center, west of Mew Lake on Highway 60 we stopped by to watch the crossbills picking up grits from the road. As we were busy photographing them we heard the unmistakable sound of a woodpecker striking a tree trunk or a branch. It didn't take us long to find this beauty on a tree quite close by. It is a life bird for me. We didn't pay attention to the kilometer marker; however my friend had GPS on his camera and the location coordinate was: 45°33'46" N 78°34'15” W
