Title: Humber river Trail- Yellow billed Cuckoo playing with stick

I took a walk in the ravine late afternoon. I didn't expect to see much due to the strong wind. But I got a glimpse of a Cooper, and several crow caused lots of uprisings by the usual Red-wing black birds, blue jays and even a Northern flicker. But I was lucky to see this one breaking off a stick and carries away. I don't think the stick will be used for nest building though...

Another successful find.
Previously Olive-sided flycatchers and now Yellow-billed Cuckoo.

Wow, isn't that cool? I saw my first yellow-billed cuckoo last week-end when I visited Dundas Valley Conservation area in Hamilton. My privilege was worth $10 (entry fee) whereas yours was free.

Yup. I did not expect to see one at all.  That was quite exciting for me as well.

Hi,

There are many "Humber River Trails".  Which section of the Humber River ravine (nearest intersection) are you referencing?  I live near the Old Mill area.  Yellow-billed Cuckoos do build stick nests and have seen their nests before in this area .....

Hi, I live close to Islington, Rexdale. And I only saw the Cuckoo once for about 45 seconds.

Hi Alfred,

I made a huge mistake before. Somehow I thought all the cuckoos lay eggs in others nests, like cowbirds.... Turned out only the common cuckoo do that, yellow billed will lay eggs in others sometimes too, but they build their nests.
