Title: Nikon compact/light 500mm F5.6 lens (avail in Sept $4700)

This is expected to be 4" shorter than the 200-500mm lens and weight around 1kg.  The image shows a gold ring around the lens so i would expect it to be more than double the price of the existing zoom with better image quality and faster autofocus, along with easier to handhold.

Nikon announced the new lens today for $4699 cdn.

I had heard that there were issues with the Phase Detection focusing system?
