Title: Ducks at High Park
Post by: Drevni on April 20, 2008, 05:37:09 PM
I was at High Park yesterday and saw these few ducks that I could not find in my field guide. The pair was close to a third, completely white duck, which almost looks domesticated. I got a photo of the pair close to the mallard to show scale, since it seems to resemble the mallard somewhat.

Your inkling was right.  They are hybrids, Mallard mixed with Domestic.

The top two are domestic/mallard hybrids and the bottom a domestic duck.

those guys have been around for years, they are usually found at the north end of the pond and ususally in the "stream".
