Title: Red Squirrel? Milton today
Post by: Napper on September 22, 2018, 01:40:44 PM
Twice in the last few weeks I have spotted what appears to be a "Red Squirrel" on my back fence in Milton.

I seems to be larger than any "Red Squirrel" I have ever seen up in Tiny township :?: . Pretty rare to see even there.

I wonder if it was a ride along.

How common are they in the GTA?

Napper :)

they are not that common in GTA  (Toronto in general but some still here) , depends more upon the types of trees you have, these squirrels prefer stands of pines/ cedars. Milton woudl have them for sure especially near escarpment

In all the years I spent in the GTA, (36) never saw them....

They are common in the city of Winnipeg....saw them predominantly when i was living there in the early 90's.

I love them...they don't disrupt my feeders....add to the joy....every now and then we get a black phased eastern grey up here....and to be candid, in the numbers we get, they're not disruptive either.....what is surprising though, is the reds take on and win, the greys.....
