Title: Snowy Owl in Colonel Sam Smith Park
Post by: Dinusaur on October 25, 2018, 11:04:46 PM
I saw my First of the Year Snowy Owl today at Colonel Sam Smith Park in Etobicoke this afternoon. The is the earliest Snowy I have ever seen - another year of irruption on the way, perhaps? Also, saw a Nelson's Sparrow at the park, a first for me. While the Snowy was very co-operative the sparrow was quite the opposite. A group of us looked for 40 mins and after most gave up on search two of us managed to see pop up for few seconds.

There has been 3 snowies that spent the summer this year in Ontario: Amherst Island; Ottawa area, & Picton area near Prince Edward County.

I had a Snowy in August in Woodstock, it didn't stick around though.
