Good shot, like the totally natural as you found it surroundings. I managed to find 2 this winter on Amherst Island both tucked away similar to yours.

Thanks...I always question when I see shot of one in the open posted somewhere.... This has been a great year for me and seen 7 of these , and all were hidden deep in brush with only partial showing

This shot below was from last winter and it was out in the open near the sign/display board before you enter owl woods. I almost walked right by it, it was well protected as the shrub had very sharp spine like points all around the owl. But generally they are hidden away for sure.

Everyone seems to find these owls despite their diminutive stature and their habit of
concealment and yet I have never seen one, let alone photographed one. I scrutinize the branches of dense conifers and check for droppings on the trunk but just never discovered anything lurking there in the shadows. These are very enticing photos. Makes me want to go out looking for one even now but there is no place around here where anyone has ever sighted one.
