Title: Where are trumpeter parents?
Post by: orchidpoet on March 25, 2019, 10:19:21 PM
I saw the trumpeter families, including mature and juvenile birds, only a couple of days ago.

But today, there are only a group of 7 juveniles. I waited until after sunset, but where were moms and dads?

This is the time of the year when the parents start off to their nesting sites and they leave and/or chase off last years cygnets. If you have knowledge of their nesting site(s) please do not post that information.

Freddie, thanks for the info.

The cygnets looked so quiet and sad, comparing to two days ago, they were busy singing and bobbing heads with their parents.

Another interesting observation is that a Canada goose, though smaller, was bullying a mature trumpeter by pecking its back. The trumpeter did not fight back. Any explanations?
