Hi everyone. Some excitement this morning at 10:45am - a Great Blue Heron was circling above Elora Dr. then landed in my neighbour's back yard! (just North of Rathburn Rd.) - Mississauga :D 8)
-
I have found a part of the answer. It's some kind of flycatcher.
Is it the great crested flycatcher, or brown crested?
-
Hi orchidpoet ... sorry, your posting has gone into the wrong thread.

Nothing is more interesting than a clever GBH and I guess
that from your surprise guest's perspective nothing is more interesting
than your neighbour's backyard. Maybe your neighbour has an extraordinary
bird bath. I'm imagining the 7th wonder of Mississauga. Perhaps you could
suggest that your neighbour erect a statue of a Great Blue Heron in the
backyard as a tribute to this special occasion. You did film it, didn't you.

Or a backyard fish pool with bright colored gold fish in it. Or he is after some nestlings that he spotted while flying overhead. Interesting to see one at the backyard no doubt.

I laugh every time I look at this photo of a GBH camouflaging himself amid the blue striped cushions!

That is hilarious!

Hmmm ... lately, seeing a lot of baby House Sparrows, baby Robins and baby Starlings in the neighbourhood - sadly, finding some of them dead on the sidewalk, covered in very active flies.
Baby Grackles are alive and healthy, being fed by the parents.

That is truly sarcastic and warped - my kind of humour!

I guess Hazel is the first wonder (meant as a compliment), not sure about the other five! :)
-
You got that right! Hazel is the first and prime wonder of Mississauga.
The Marilyn Munroe building is probably on the list. Then there is the
collective wonder of the community of enthusiastic and skilled birders
that are out there where all the action is.
