Title: Owen Sound Black Bear
Post by: Axeman on December 01, 2019, 08:30:05 PM
I don't know if you caught it or not but a couple of weeks ago a black bear was struck and killed by a flatbed tow truck in the city of Owen Sound -- the story said it was a 250 lb bear but I don't know if that's the reporter or bystander guessing or somewhat weighed it. Some may recall the story from milton area of a turkey vulture crashing through a window into a house. The reporter wrote that a 25 lb. turkey vulture crashed through the window.

What caught my eye was that it was mid November and we had a fair bit of snow at that time. I figured they'd have denned up by then. And...frankly, I enjoy knowing that we have populations of bears in our area. (Although sorry it was a victim of urbanization.)

The poor creature died pretty shortly after being hit. It happened at around 2:30 a.m.
