If anyone has any plans to attend a spring birding festival you should monitor the status of the event as there is the possibility of cancellations due to the virus.

All federal parks have been closed until April 30th. Ontario provincial parks are still open but events have been cancelled and centres are closed. We may still see provincial parks get closed as well.

That was disappointing and they are closed until April 30th. I hope the Feds don't close down Rouge Park that I am using for daily hikes, as I am going stir crazy at home.

As of today Parking is no longer permitted in Canada National Parks, so you can no longer access these parks. Hopefully this won't last too long.

Parks Canada has extended closure of all parks until May 31st.

In addition to Parks Canada, all Ontario Parks and Conservation Areas will stay closed until the end of May.

In addition to the Ontario parks opening last week, Parks Canada is opening the following on June 1st. I am glad to see that Rouge Park will be accessible to everyone although I have been using the one entrance that they purposely left open due to the very wide trails.

In a news release, Parks Canada explained that in most cases, the gradual reopening will include access to day-use areas, trails, beaches and green spaces and some access for recreational boating and fishing.

Unfortunately, Point Pelee will only be open weekends from 10am starting June 13th. Not that great for birding.

We miss our visitors! The staff at Point Pelee National Park are working hard to prepare the park for visitors, to implement measures in limiting the spread of COVID-19, and to support essential road construction activities.
The construction and paving of the main road is underway. During that phase of the road renewal project, as a way to prevent public safety concerns, Point Pelee National Park will remain closed to all visitor access until June 12, inclusively. Starting June 13, 2020, Point Pelee National Park will open on weekends only, offering limited visitor access and basic services on Saturdays and Sundays 10 am to sunset.
