Title: Geese in search of a view

While at the Amos pond area I scanned the pond for ducks and the shoreline for birds and spent
several minutes in serious scrutiny without thinking to look up. 20 feet up a tree was a goose
contemplating the view.

After visiting the other side of this swampy spot I again noticed a goose
perched over 20 feet up stationed with purpose as if a sentry on duty.

A little later I spotted another goose inside a hollowed out tree with only
its head peeking out, and also about 15 feet up.

Wonderful photos!  :D They sure do look contemplative.

What a great spot, that hollowed out tree!

Canada geese are ubiquitous and therefore often overlooked. The trick, I think, is to find them
in unusual locations, in large numbers, or interacting with other wildlife in interesting ways. Unlike
many other birds where the object is to get as close as possible in order to capture detail, geese
can be photographed at a distance and still be worthwhile subjects. One of my favourite shots was
taken at the mouth of the Rouge, shot at ground level at sunrise, a shot I call "Guardians of the Dawn".
