Title: Immature summer tanager or scarlet tanager?
Post by: farmer on May 07, 2008, 07:13:18 AM
I took these photos in our orchard in Leamington on April 28th. The white blossoms are cherries and the pink ones are apricots. Need help deciding which Tanager it is. I found out they love to eat honeybees. He was sitting on our rented behives for pollination catching the bees as they came out. Thanks

I know it's rare up here, but anyone else think so?  According to the Sibley's guide, bees and wasps are its favourite meals.

I agree its a Summer. The wings of a Scarlet are much darker. Nice shot.

I agree.  It's a Summer Tanager.
