Lots more activities today, so surprised to see the Goslings, and the RWBB hassasshing the RTH. Love Killdeer and Best luck so far with the kingfisher.

You had a busy and productive day. Nice shots of the killdeer since they can be hard
to get close to. That long lens really works well for kingfisher. They are almost impossible
to approach. Nice variety.

Yes, the kingfisher couple usually have me running along the water like crazy. I also found a cooper's who was calling. I never found out what was that about. Do you know why there is an opening at the rear end of the killdeer? Egg Laying?

I just realized that I missed a one out of a million opportunity today. This deer was found on the other side of the river where I discovered the killdeer on the small hill, only about 5 minutes after the killdeer flew away. Although it would be so hard to line them up, but still was a chance I missed :o :o

Whew, that was close one. That deer was lucky to escape unharmed from the deadly killdeer. Those killdeer can be vicious. Lining them up in the same shot could have resulted in certain carnage. You already have a reputation for posting crime scene shots with that sapsucker body dump and all. I hope you are not thinking of posting any of those dreadful forensic autopsy reports although I could see how that would open up a whole new fan base. By the way, that Cooper’s hawk is up to something … mark my word, I know sinister when I see it.

You haven't answered the question about the killdeer. Is she about the lay her eggs?

Killdeer nest and lay eggs in April, at least that's according to what I have witnessed.
By now I would expect eggs to already be on the (ground) nest. I guess you didn't notice
a nest otherwise you would have investigated. There is variation but I don't know how
extreme it might be. I can't imagine that the killdeer would be far from a nest if they
were indeed a pair.
Go back and look but be discrete.
