Title: Monarches and swallowtail

Got two monarchs and one Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. But while I was taking photos of one, I missed a good shot of a female woodduck, I don't see them around very often. I also scared away the great blue heron the 2nd time.

I don't know what is he doing on the ground.

All very nice, even majestic. You do butterflies Real Good!

Thank you so much, I found they look much better in the garden,  but so much more fun in the wild.
My neighbour has green thumb, so I go to steal his butterflies sometime

Usually it is to get nutrients (primarily minerals) from the soil.  In some spots, you can see many congregating.  We once saw hundreds in one spot, with several different species represented.

Your first butterfly looks like a Viceroy to me: due to the black line crossing the postmedian hindwing.
