Title: RTH Family
Post by: Ally on August 01, 2020, 08:47:58 PM
I missed most of the part because I was busy inside. I heard the calls and grabbed the camera. I didn't expect there were more than one, and with the low light, so I missed better shots. All three appeared. I figured the parents gave the kid a pigeon, but the youngster still refused to go home with them

It seems like the adult has something in its talons.

The juvi, or the young adult came this morning, and perched on the dead tree to dry its feathers. He preened every single feather, it was so cute to watch. He has a cute and weird smile

Robins and cardinals don't bother him, but a fly freaked him out. It seemed birds enjoy preening.

After he took off, he came back to a different perch, and kept screaming,I didn't realized there was something in his talon until he is gone. I guess he pissed off, because he came back to show off, but I didn't see.

Very nice series of close-up preening.
These RTH's are obviously very comfortable with you in their vicinity.
