Title: Disaster at Red-tail nest on May 1
Post by: Leslie Kinrys on May 01, 2021, 10:14:58 PM
The hawks had continued courtship behaviour, but the female hadn't seemed to have laid eggs yet. Yesterday, the nest was still on the chimney platform.Today, it was gone! All I can think is the high winds blew it off there. The hawks were still hanging around. The male brought the female a prey item, which looked pretty bloody. Yuck! She took it and flew off to eat it alone. I'm not sure if they will try to nest again. This pair seems to be unlucky in the breeding department.

Ah oh! Hope they do try again. I have a pair in my area, but I have been able to locate the nest. But happy just to be able to see them around.
