Title: Chimney Swifts
Post by: Napper on May 22, 2008, 10:37:16 PM
Hey..

Tonight  8:30 pm on my way home from my weekly sporting event. I spotted a single Swift near 16 mile creek and Derry rd Milton.

Earlier I watched a very large Raptor possibly a Northern Harrier fly over and possibly a Raven a little while later..

I will definitely have a closer look over there..

Unfortunately,  I had No bins on hand

Last evening  8:30 pm over downtown Milton high in the air 5 Chimney Swifts circling and making calls similar to Barn Swallows.

Chimney swifts have a very distinctive flight pattern

Toronto Brickworks wetlands. I usually see at least a dozen Chimney Swifts.

Between June 21 to 27 had a small flock of about 7 chimney swifts searching for food in the early evening here in St. Catharines (many June Bugs out).  Haven't seen them for a couple of days now.....are they migrating somewhere or am I just missing them at feeding time?  Sweet little sounds out my home office window.
