Title: Leslie Street Spit Saturday May 24 6:30 am to 11:15 am
Post by: jjmb on May 24, 2008, 10:21:13 PM
What a beautiful day out on the Spit. Counted 58 species (and am asking for help with 2 others on the Bird ID forum). I won't list the usual suspects, only those that I thought were more interesting, at least to me (probably not very exciting for some of you super-experienced birders):

Still Long Tail Ducks around, and Buffleheads
Catbirds
Lots of Spotted Sandpipers and Killdeer
Kingfisher
Easter Wood Pewee
Yellow Bellied Flycatcher
Least Flycatcher
Many Kingbirds
Hermit Thrush
Warblers: Nashville, Yellow, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, Yellow Rumped, Black Throated Green, Blackburnian, Palm, Bay-Breasted, Blackpoll, Common yellow throat, Wilson's, Canada
Chipping, White Crowned, White Throated, Field and Song sparrows
Lots of beautiful Northern Orioles
and nesting gold finches.
And I think that the 2 that I am having trouble identifying are Pine warbler and Warbling vireo

Awesome day!!!!
