Title: North wind last night
Post by: Shortsighted on September 02, 2021, 11:13:32 AM
The north wind last night and this morning may have been a stimulus for the fall migration. While escorting alongside the walker I spotted a warbler (unknown) fly into the woodlot across the street. Usually I see nothing while escorting the walker. On the return trip I walked on the street right next to the woodlot so that I could get a better look. Spotted three or four Red-eyed Vireo feeding at the edge of the woodlot moving slowly northward paralleling the street. I may try again later.

I love the first pic of the red-eyed vireo so much. My favourite of all the red-eyed vireo pictures! Sorry if I offended the other picture or all the other vireos.

Are you sure that you are a teacher? I think that you're a technician because you know how to push all my buttons. Still a north wind out here in Durham.

Have you been to lower Reesor pond yet? The rain may have changed things. No report of Sora but I'm sure that I saw one on the western shoreline near the north end of what little water was there at the time. No further reports of snipe activity either. To access the spot where I saw a Sora you would need to walk north along the crest of the berm and then scurry down to the edge of the mud and water and walk very slowly (northward) with the sun at your back and be prepared to freeze if anything moves. I'd try it myself if I could only get away for more than 15 minutes.

I work in a school, and it's the new school year upon us. I am still trying to sneak out sometime, I am frustrated and wishing I have wings so I can fly over.

So I really appreciate that you are able to supply for my needs for bird pics.
