I've got to photograph something. Plants make me happy too.

I know what you mean. Put the camera down for a while, or worse still, put it away and you risk losing your chops. October is a great time to look for fungi. Look in the ravines for rotting logs and in the woods at the southern base of hills where water collects. I've even spotted very dense clusters of mushrooms in the grass next to the woodlot. Not an unusual species, but when grouped into tight clusters they can be photogenic if you photograph them right. Camera down to the ground, or directly above and playing with battery powered potable lights. When it rains check for water droplets on foliage. Look for contrast, look for patterns, look for texture, look for juxtaposition, look for the unusual. You get the picture and so will we.
