Title: Turkey roosting
Post by: Ally on October 25, 2021, 08:31:03 PM
I know it's the backyard section, but I can see it from my window. I think it's roosting here tonight.

Whereabouts?

In the winter, they'll gather in the hundreds...perhaps a thousand...in old cornfields...quite the sight....I love how they stop traffic around here when they start crossing the highway....they just saunter across single file.....they're very stupid birds until hunting season.

I know in recent years there have been posts in the GTA about turkeys....they've really expanded their range (although in fairness I think the GTA was part of their original range)...but they've expanded north...we have tons around our home and we're seeing them in Parry Sound area too...a successful reintroduction that has perhaps been TOO successful....farmers hate them...thankfully no farmers in GTA lol

Agreed. Soon there will be more wild turkeys in southern Ontario than there are farmers. There are even a few turkeys on Parliament Hill.

population of turkeys on parliament hasn't changed in a few years...we even had an election to prove it....doesn't matter which party you support...NOBODY was happy with the call or the results lol...sooo all in all, I have to say, that's a GREAT election.
