Title: Deer in the Don Valley
Post by: Dr. John on April 13, 2022, 10:37:56 AM
Saw one browsing on the grassy hillside on the west side of Bayview, just north of Rosedale Valley Rd. last evening around 7:30.  Seemed calm and unconcerned about the traffic just 30-40 feet away.

I was jogging along that stretch of road at sunset tonight and I saw a very healthy looking coyote down in the swampy ditch. (Where I have occasionally seen deer)

I have seen a video on the World Wide Web of deer at an urban traffic light waiting with people to cross....I'll have to go find it and post it here....but the oddest thing about the footage is that not everyone at the light was aware of the deer standing with them....there were a few looking rather surprised but some were oblivious.

The other day a secretary in my office shared a photo with me of deer walking through our parking lot....her station is by the window....office is in downtown Burlington. And I have hears stories of deer in the Port Credit area of Mississauga....not sure how much faith I have in the stories but....

Saw a lone deer yesterday just off Bayview extension, just near the exit ramp for the DVP.  It was about 4:00 in the afternoon.

Last summer my mother had a deer in her backyard in Port Credit -- she lives on the lake adjacent to the Adamson / Derry Estate Park...she's been there since 1976 and as you can imagine the urbanization has dramatically intensified since then and this is a first.
