A very aggressive Turdus Migratorius is attacking our back door, BBQ, kitchen windows & side of house windows. This Robin is driving us crazy and leaving feces behind on everything.
We feel like we are being watched by this thing "LOL".
Both glass sections of our sliding doors from bottom to top have white marks from where it is making contact.
Napper :o
p.s. the dog is not happy either.

Have you triee to draw a hawk on the door?

yeah we are having same issue...started a few years back...male Turdus migratorious kept at basement window...but we had a wooden bird figurine on the sill so we figured it was misdirected affection....but this year we removed the figurine and we've even had 2 at different windows...and they go for HOURS...driving me CRAZY...you chase them off they come back....nobody is ever going to convince me that these guys are smart.

Anyone know WHY they're doing it? I mean I get that they they're bird brained -- are we still allowed to say that?

Nest on the house ... somewhere. You are threatening it. It wants you gone.Try playing Latino or Afro-Cuban music really loud.
-
Are they nesting already? I don't think it's about nesting....b/c there have been a few of them going at different basement windows (with wells) and we usually get a couple of nests (different nesting intervals) through the summer in our crab apple which is right in front of the house...and that never results in tappers...it's always at the beginning of spring....so that's what's causing yours? A nest?

I have two robins in the backyard every morning searching for nesting material. One picks up a beak full of primo product and sits on the fence patiently waiting for the second robin to pass inspection, while also constantly looking around to see if anyone is watching. I think this passes for theater in the bird world. Most birds are territorial and discourage activity near the chosen nest sight. Some birds are just pricks and enjoy being belligerent. I know I do.

The banging on windows and doors has subsided for now. Yes we have a nest at front of house where a downspout meets the brick wall. This nest has been there for 5 years, it just keeps getting re used.
I Think There are too many Robins looking for territory down here. Up at our House in Tiny we have a similar nest at the front of our Carport that keeps being re used but we have far fewer Robins about and there is no window banging.
We had an issue a few years back where a Northern Flicker was making a god awful noise on the neighbours stainless chimney.
Oh! and Axeman yes, Robins are nesting even up at the beach. There is one at the nest at all times.

I think they're kinda like the starlings....population exploding....you figure they have 3 nests a year...4 eggs per nest....and they all seem to fledge....I notice in the winter when I go into my cedar bush the racket is unnerving.....
