Title: Red Bellied Woodpecker, Balm Beach
Post by: Napper on September 30, 2022, 12:57:22 PM
Hey! Just had a Red Bellied Woodpecker on the power pole and then the trees at the end of our driveway.
I am a little ticked that I left my camera at home as this bird was very close to where I was standing. :o
Had the heating system on overnight it was that cold.

When I was young I felt frustrated that I never had the right lens mounted to my SLR camera. Now we have zooms. You're frustrated because close encounters occur when your camera is elsewhere. Essentially the same problem. You have only one camera, as do I. Some birders have so many cameras they have what is called 'a collection'. They have a point-and-shoot, a DSLR DX, a DSLR FX, a mark II of either one, a new mirrorless camera. They could have a camera at home, one in the car, one in the other car, one in the truck, etc. Then there are the latest cellphones with enhanced photo capabilities. Don't get me started on those. Despite all this technology, a surfeit of technology even, there are so few posts on this nature forum. Obviously, lack of photo posts is unrelated to the availability of photo technology. I have not seen a Red-naped woodpecker since the spring ... sorry, I meant Red-bellied woodpecker.

At home or in Tiny?

Oh btw...I understand a group of STR operators are challenging Tiny's STR regulatory scheme...and being candid, I think they'll be successful in light of the OLT's decision in Oro-Medonte.

Balm Beach is in Tiny Township, Axeman.

Feels like Winter. We are thinking of shutting down when we leave.
