When they eat clams or something, do they spit the shells out or do they swallow the whole thing?
-
Mussels, and they go all the way, baby. So uncouth.

FABULOUS pix!

Thanks Axeman. I figure that I'll post maybe eight more FALL GUYS and then I'll call it quits and pull the plug, snuff the candle, drain the swamp, batten-down the hatch, secure the mainsail, lock the gate, throw the tarp over my head and .... what? I don't want no stinking tarp over my head!I don't want no cold turkey! I may need to elicit the help of a real birder to figure out what to do. This isn't working.

How about starting 'Winter Wings' or something similar (I am sure you can find a wittier theme) as a sequel to Fall Guy? Why quit? I am enjoying every bit of it.
Now seeing a Black Scotter nearby in the lake will be something to look for. I had to drive once to Stoney Creek to see one.

The birds that I have selected to include in my thread “FALL GUYS” do service to the chosen theme and are supported by photos that I have taken. To fashion a sequel of sorts dedicated to “WINTER WINGS”, which is a respectable title in no need of revision, I would need to compile a list of genuine winter birds, separate and beyond those fall guys that have already been enlisted to that end. I would honesty need help creating a retinue of strictly winter species because many winter visitors are also fall arrivals and have therefore already been featured. What would you consider be included in a list of winter birds?
Another problem is my lack of photos to accompany potential WINTER WINGS candidates. I’ve only been doing this with a DSLR and a 200mm lens for about five years. I don’t have a substantial portfolio of photographs to mine, so even if I could put forward a list of characters I couldn’t assemble a supporting cast of photos, unless you want to do that. Even if you were interested and agreed to collaborate there would need to be an exchange of content prior to posting. I mean, how exactly would that all work?
