Areas that were previously frozen just a day or two ago are now open. This open stretch of water has attracted Common merganser (two males and a female) but they never really came close to shore so I did the best I could with only 300mm.

A few Hooded merganser were also present, but once again not close to shore. I couldn't get closer to the water without being in the cold water and that did not appeal to me.
