Title: Pine Warbler, Pheobe's today, Tiny Beaches
Post by: Napper on September 22, 2023, 04:52:28 PM
Yesterday it warmed up mid morning kinda felt like summer again after the previous two days that required the heat to be turned on.
Mid afternoon I startled up a Pine Warbler that was on our Lilac beside the deck, it moved to one of the apple trees near the fence
Today in fact just now while in the sun room I heard an Eastern Phoebe calling so I went outside to have a little look and there was at least two of them. I think I got at least one least I.D shot. I thought I heard one last evening as well.

Yesterday was interesting, It was almost as warm as it was today (27 C) but be had an invasion of flying "ants" . They were everywhere!

I've only seen one phoebe since the spring and that sighting was almost two weeks ago. When I went out this morning there was almost nothing to see, or to hear. No warblers at all. No flycatchers at all. There were a few chickadees, cardinals and blue jays flying from place to place. Also spotted a couple of flicker high in the trees, as well as starlings in winter feathers, but no birds of prey flying around. It has now gotten to the point where its not worth going to the park (near the bluffs) in the morning. Pedestrians are starting to take the dirt trails now that mosquitoes are no longer a concern, so even if I find something I would soon be interrupted by dirt bikes or dog walkers thereby defeating any efforts directed at photography. I would try another location but the same would apply elsewhere and there is little to choose from without travelling farther from home than I care to. Gas is not cheap.

lighting is generally not great under these huge Oaks even at 3 pm. Same tree behind the house as the Red Headed WoodPecker.
I crop the images, resize to 800-600, one sharpen and save to 500 kb. Originals are far to large to post or email.. 25 mb jpg and 45 mb NEF.

EXIF data should still be in the files
